Three months ago, Consit Gruppen joined the European tech group The Digital Neighborhood, of which Delegate is also a member. With strong competencies in Dynamics 365 Business Central, Consit Gruppen has been a key player in Denmark for many years. This ERP solution is central to many of Delegate's customers, effectively tying their business processes together.
How has it gone since the acquisition? Have the ambitions to create closer collaboration and new opportunities borne fruit? To mark the three-month anniversary, Peter Østergaard, Co-CEO of Delegate, and Morten Skovby, CEO of Consit Gruppen, sat down to take the temperature of the collaboration and look closer at how reality matches expectations.
Morten Skovby: Our business areas were incredibly complementary. But it's one thing to have a lot of positive expectations. It's something else when it comes to execution. I did not doubt that it was a good match, but I'm very impressed with how quickly it has happened. We've already won customers and are solving tasks together, and the customer feedback is really good. Once you get one, two, or three successes together, it usually rubs off and breeds more success.
Peter Østergaard: I have the same experience. If we can show customers the way together, we're also well on the way to moving together internally. It works much better than saying that we need to move closer together in Delegate and Consit Gruppen.
Peter Østergaard: We made a reasonably comprehensive onboarding plan, which actually turned out to be too extensive - because it's in the practical work and not in the meeting room that you really bond. Both Delegate and Consit Gruppen are people-first companies, but we come from different backgrounds. Therefore, it has been crucial to bring people together quickly and create a human community with trust across the board. For example, when you've had lunch or held one or more meetings, it's more obvious to bring one of the new "colleagues" to a sales meeting. Consit Gruppen's consultants have been great to have at these sales meetings.
Morten Skovby: Yes, we have had a very strong common focus on succeeding quickly. Peter has been very communicative internally in Delegate, e.g. about the fact that they can now offer ERP solutions to customers, so our colleagues have been very attentive and good at reaching out across both organizations.
Why has it happened so quickly?
Morten Skovby: Yes, but this is also because we haven't broken too much bread. There are plenty of examples of how it's not always a good idea to buy a company - or be bought. It's like if you make a strategy with 15 must-wins and only achieve three. Then it's crash and burn. We've focused on getting some quick wins where the collaboration and solutions work, and then let the ball roll rather than setting overly high goals we couldn't subsequently deliver on.
Peter Østergaard: I completely agree. You have to be realistic and then build on that. It's always preferable to be better than we predicted.
Peter Østergaard: They are excited because now we can pretty much tie a bow around the solutions in the Microsoft ecosystem. Our customers have regularly asked us for an ERP solution because they already had Business Central with a third party. Now we have that on the shelf, too, which makes it easier and less risky because customers can now buy from us, and we can ensure the technical integration all the way around.
Morten Skovby: That's also my clear feeling. Some of Delegate's customers who had Business Central with another provider have just switched operations to us because they see the benefits of gathering the solutions and responsibility in one place.
Peter Østergaard: It all starts with the customers' acceptance. If they don't want Consit Gruppen and Delegate as a joint supplier, Morten and I can talk and talk. We still have a lot to do, but it's been a pleasure to see the idea we had come to life with real customers, real projects, and real employees.
Morten Skovby: Our ERP department has gotten really busy, and we're looking for more employees—which is only positive. By joining forces with a large and well-known player like Delegate, we have a broader palette and have become a bit more interesting. Employees can now see themselves as part of a larger organization with professional sparring and cross-functional projects.
Peter Østergaard: The arrow points to growth in 2025. Our brand in the market has been strengthened because we now have Business Central. This attracts attention and can potentially attract new employees. Over the coming period, we will move even closer with Consit Gruppen and probably do more cross-staffing. I'm really looking forward to that.
