What is a Microsoft MVP?
Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVP) are technology experts that passionately share their knowledge with the global Microsoft community. They are always on the forefront of technology and have a passion for not only learning about new, exciting technologies, but also teaching and sharing them with others.
The Microsoft MVP-awards have been given yearly for over three decades. There are around 4000 MVP’s worldwide, where five of them work at Delegate.
Delegate's MVP's
I haven't had a specific goal of becoming an MVP. I'm just passionate about technology and IT. At some point, I felt I could contribute and help people.
I started by answering questions about Microsoft-related technology in various forums. Then, it evolved into me writing blog posts to answer people's technical questions. Today, I am spending my time developing multiple tools that are available for free as open source. I also still blog and use X (formerly Twitter) to talk about the things I work in.
I still have something to contribute, and it gives me a boost to know that people like what I do and that I can make a difference in ways other than in my day-to-day job.
A good MVP knows how to spread information so that as many people as possible can understand it and join in. An MVP helps make Microsoft's products more tangible.
I am an MVP, because I want to share knowledge. I am the creator of a large newsletter, I organize the biggest Power Platfrom and Dynamics 365 community event in the North, and I moderate a forum on Discord. I am also a frequent speaker at conferences, and developer of various tools.
My motivation is to stay updated on knowledge and ensure that this knowledge is shared with as many people as possible, whether through newsletters or presentations at conferences. Of course, it's a lot of work, but for me, there's an altruistic aspect to it. When I see how many people benefit from it, the workload is all right.
To me a good MVP is someone who focuses on the community and who want to share their knowledge and stay up to date within ones area of expertise. If you share knowledge without being up to date on the latest information it has no value. If you know a lot, without sharing it, then it does not have any value.
"My motivation is different for everything I do. And it's the combination of these motivations that makes me want to continue working on being an MVP."
