Profile – Lars Bo Nielsen

57-year-old Lars Bo Nielsen have worked in the IT industry for more than 30 years - 20 of these as a leader. His management style is characterized by soft values which shape the framework of a meaningful work life.

Lars Bo Nielsen is Head of Data & AI in Delegate, where he has the responsibility for the Data & AI strategy. He leads a team of 18 colleagues and helps ensure a global collaboration with more than 200 Data & AI colleagues in Broad Horizon.

In this book, Delegate’s values, and way of dealing with customers as well as colleagues are written down and the keywords are recognition, helpfulness, and decency. The written set of values is part of Delegate’s DNA, and reflects many of Lars Bo Nielsen’s fundamental human values; to Lars Bo it is crucial to be an empathetic leader bearing everyone's well-being and development in mind:

Coach of the Danish national soccer team, Kasper Hjulmand has received great recognition in recent years for his soft management style, but that was already part of Delegate's DNA, when the company was founded over 15 years ago.

"We look after our employees, and we look at what we collectively can do to advance the individual colleague. And in the management team, we are a community. There are no leaders who have an individual goal. We have a common goal," explains Lars Bo.

In 2022, Delegate won the title of Data & AI Partner of the year at the Microsoft Partner Awards. A title that emphasizes that a prominent level of professionalism and sound values can easily go hand in hand:

"The fact that we can deliver towering professionalism while our work is based on solid, human values makes me both super happy and very proud."

However, it is in the close relationships where Lars Bo experiences that his work has a purpose - for instance at the weekly team meeting:

"Every Thursday we have a team meeting. And the energy and atmosphere at these meetings are so great. I get ecstatic when a colleague praises another colleague. Most recently, one of our students has made a video in which he documented his work and dialogue with the customer. And everyone in the room praised the video. The openness and cooperation that exists within the team in this situation make me ecstatic.”

After 33 years in the IT industry, Lars Bo has tried close to everything, and he therefore knows why he gets into his car and drives an hour and 20 minutes from his residence in Kolding to Delegate's office in Aarhus:

"Meeting people whose values match my fundamental values and feeling the energy from my colleagues – that is why I come to work. That is awesome!"
